Avatar Imax Tickets On Sale

The official release date for James Cameron’s highly hyped Avatar is more than three months away, but the tickets for the movie’s midnight screening on Dec. 18 at roughly 75 AMC theaters (50 of which will show the film in IMAX) are already available for die-hard fans.

Last Friday, AMC and Fox showed 16 minutes of footage from Avatar in 102 Imax locations around the country. Although this is the first time fans have been able to buy movie tickets four months before a film’s opening, the ticket sales for this midnight run have been brisk according to MovieTickets.com and Fandango. Although the final running time of the movie is anybody’s guess at this time, insiders believe Cameron will probably clock it between 2.5 and 3 hours.
