Nickelodeon Animation Festival Announces Winners

Four animated short films have been chosen as the winners of the Nickelodeon Animation Festival 2009.

Out of Hand Festival Honors Students’ Art

Two students won the top prizes for digital content created for portable devices at the inaugural Out of Hand International Festival.

The festival, hosted by New York’s School of Visual Arts in conjunction with Giraldi Media, received more than 1,200 submissions from students worldwide in the categories design, games, art and animation, short film and applications.

Duckling Short Wins BAFTA Scotland Honor

The animated short The Happy Duckling won the Best Animation Award from BAFTA Scotland.

The nine-minute short about a reluctant boy who is followed by a happy duck, was written and directed by Gili Dolev and features a score by Mick Cooke of the musical act Belle and Sebastian.
