Sales agency Finecut announced new international deals for the 3D animated feature film Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs, produced by leading Asian animation and VFX house Locus. A magical new trailer for the project has also debuted, time to the European Film Market in Berlin.
A modern retelling of the classic fairy tale “Snow White,” the movie is about the encounter between seven cursed Dwarfs, who need a kiss from the most beautiful woman in the world to undo the spell, and Snow White, who finds a pair of magical Red Shoes which transform her into a classic “princess” beauty. In the course of their journey, they all come to realize the true meaning of beauty.
Directed by Sungho Hong (Egg-Cola, Wonderful Days), who also wrote the original storyline, Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs boasts a solid voice cast including Chloë Grace Moretz (Greta, The Equalizer, Kick-Ass 2, Let Me in Hugo), Sam Claflin (Adrift, Me Before You, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire / Mockingjay – Pt. 1 & 2) and Gina Gershon (American Dresser, Killer Joe, P.S. I Love You) in the roles of Snow White, Merlin and the Witch Queen, respectively.
The film’s animation director is Jin Kim, who is credited as a character supervisor on Disney’s Big Hero 6 and a character designer on Frozen and Tangled. The Emmy Award-winning composer Geoff Zanelli is music director and scored the soundtrack for the film. Zanelli previously gained recognition through his work on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Justice League.
International sales are handled by South Korean sales agency Finecut; the film has already been sold to many territories, including Latin America (BF Distribution), the Middle East (Gulf Film), Portugal & Portuguese-speaking Africa (Nos Lusomundo), the Baltic States (ACME), Bulgaria (Pro Films OOC), the Czech Republic & Slovakia, Hungary (Bohemia Motion Pictures), former Yugoslavia & Albania (Blitz Film & Video Distribution), India (Soundspace International MVP), Israel (Film House), Italy (Lucky Red), the Philippines (ABS-CBN Corporation), Poland (Kino Swiat), Turkey (Fabula Medya A.S.) and Vietnam (Golden River Intercine).
During EFM, Finecut will present the final cut of the full feature at the film’s market premiere (Saturday).
