Dick Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, and Andy Mooney, president of Disney Consumer Products Worldwide, announced the promotion of Tim Kilpin to the newly created role of exec. VP, studio franchise management.
Kilpin previously served as Sr. VP, global toys and marketing and creative arts, for Disney Consumer Products. In his new role, he will report to Cook and Mooney and will develop global merchandise strategies for Disneys feature animation and live action films, establish property and franchise priorities, drive the expansion of Disneys studio franchises worldwide and strive to increase studio merchandise revenue.
Kilpin will also continue to develop marketing strategies for core franchises, including Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse, Disney Princesses and The Lion King, while maintaining his role as head of Disneys Consumer Products marketing and creative arts department.
The University of Wisconsin in Whitewater grad joined Disney in Nov. 2000 after 13 years at Mattel Inc., where he rose to the rank of general manager and exec. VP of the character brands business unit. He has also served as director of marketing for Tonka Toys and CEO of the photo-sharing website, www.ememories.com.
