Final versions of Alias|Wavefront’s mental ray for Maya 1.5 software for Windows, IRIX and Linux operating systems are now available for download to licensed Maya 4.5 customers at www.aliaswavefront.com/maya/getmental. The company describes mental ray for Maya as a tightly integrated rendering plug-in that maximizes the strength of the mental ray renderer and Maya 3D software.
According to Alias|Wavefront, the mental ray for Maya 1.5 beta program was one of the most successful beta programs ever launched by the company. Tens of thousands of Maya 4.5 customers reportedly downloaded the plug-in. Mac OS X users will soon benefit from a free mental ray for Maya 1.5 public beta.
Maya 4.5 customers using mental ray for Maya 1.5 public beta on Windows, IRIX and Linux operating systems are directed to uninstall the public beta and download the commercial mental ray for Maya 1.5 plug-in, as the public beta license will expire.
As announced in October 2002, the mental ray for Maya plug-in, previously priced at $3,995 USD, is now available at no extra charge to Maya Complete 4.5 software and Maya Unlimited 4.5 software customers.
