Oregon3D Inc., The Center for Visualization Technologies, announced its upcoming Oregon3D Film Camp. Scheduled for August 17 ‘ August 29, this film school-style camp will involve students in the total process of creating a short film as a group. Students will be instructed by award-winning director Mike Wellins and Oregon3D’s discreet-certified flame compositor Phil Guzzo (both previously from Will Vinton Studios) and will work step-by-step through the entire film production process and come away with a well-rounded experience of modern filmmaking and an actual film for their reel.
Beginning with a location shoot using 35mm, students will continue on with digital transfer, editing, special effects production and animation, screen dailies, and finish with final film post and output. Oregon3D will provide the use of its cutting-edge facility, including state-of-the-art systems and industry standard tools such as 3ds max, combustion, Maya, and MOTIONBUILDER.
The camp also features lunchtime lectures with industry professionals and tours of some professional studios and facilities in Portland. As an extra bonus, the final day of camp will include a special screening at the Oregon3D Theatre. When the camp is over, students will take home a great experience, a DVD and VHS copy of the final film, along with a new credit to add to their reel. Even better, if the film merits, Oregon3D will submit the film to festivals and competitions.
The Film Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., August 17 ‘ August 29, 2003 at Oregon3D’s training facility, 735 SW 20th Place, Suite 230, Portland, Oregon.
