Iain Pelling, Cosgrove Hall’s managing director announced today that he’ll be leaving the Manchester, England-based animation company. Pelling’s time at the toon house has seen the company increase its production of traditional animation and also open a CGI unit, Cosgrove Hall Digital. Since he joined CHF in 1996, the 27-year-old shop has won three international and six national programming award, in addition to six BAFTA nominations. Pelling took up his current role as managing director in 1999.
I am a financial guy, and working at Cosgrove Hall allowed me to work with an amazing group of creative people,” Pelling told Animation Magazine. “I do plan to stay in television and continue working with creative people, because that’s what I really enjoy doing.”
Pelling has led Cosgrove Hall films to a point where it is in a sound financial state and has a number of high-profile shows in production, including Engie Benjy, The Inbreds, and Albie. The company is presently 75% owned by Granada.
“Iain skillfully brought Cosgrove Hall Films through difficult times in the animation market,” said John Whiston, CGF’s director of drama and children’s arts and features. “But the company is now in rude health and Granada is very excited about the slate of projects coming up. We are extremely grateful to Iain for what he has done for CGF in the past seven years.”
