We’ve been keeping an eye on the networks’ fall announcements this week, and the only animated-related news that caught our eyes was that Fox is reshuffling its Sunday night lineup yet again.
Replacing the under-rated Futurama in the unfortunate 7 p.m. slot is Bonzai, an offbeat Japanese “reality show” of sorts. Thankfully, the show is followed by new seasons of King of the Hill and The Simpsons at 7:30 and 8 p.m.
The only other animation news we were able to track down in the network’s fall schedule is the shifting of ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney from Sunday nights to Saturday nights. Thank God for cable outlets like the Cartoon Network, Spike (the old TNN), Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Toon Disney and Comedy Central, which are still keeping the animation flame alive in their prime-time schedules.
Also, keep an eye on Spike TV, the newly revamped men’s cable network, which is debuting its Adult Block on June 26. The cable outlet’s new season of John Kricfalusi’s Ren & Stimpy Show kicks off the Block at 10 p.m., followed by Rob and Mark Cullen’s Gary the Rat at 10:30 and Stan Lee’s Stripperella at 11 p.m. That should certainly put some sizzle back in your summer nights.
