With Warner Bros.’ evergreen franchise Looney Tunes characters set for a feature re-introduction this fall (Looney Tunes: Back in Action), you can count on a lot of cross-platform action for the venerable Bugs, Daffy and Porky Pig as the summer gives way to Autumn 2003.
Case in point: Cartoon Network’s Duck vs. Rabbit marathon scheduled for an August 16 debut. Bugs Bunny and Duck Dodgers will engage in 12-hours of squabbling, singing and cross-dressing during Duck vs. Rabbit, a tribute to the great cartoons starring these timeless stars. Beginning at 7 a.m. (ET, PT) on Saturday, August 16, and running until 7 p.m. (ET, PT) that evening, Cartoon Network will highlight the best battles between the two superstars and showcase memorable individual cartoons. Duck vs. Rabbit precedes by one week, the premiere of the new series Duck Dodgers on Saturday, Aug. 23, and the launch of The Looney Tunes Show, the new block featuring favorite Looney Tunes characters from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (ET, PT) every Saturday on Cartoon Network.
Through the course of the marathon, these two venerable stars face off against a variety of foes, including monsters, gangsters and mad scientists. Other Looney tunes stars appearing during the Duck vs. Rabbit marathon include Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig, the Tazmanian Devil and Marvin the Martian. Both Daffy and Bugs find themselves in a variety of locations, ranging from the boxing ring, Hollywood and outer space to the Wild West and the frigid arctic.
Duck vs. Rabbit will feature more than 70 cartoons starring Daffy and Bugs. At the top of each hour, Cartoon Network will feature a cartoon starring both Bugs and Daffy, including such timeless classics as “Rabbit Seasoning,” “The Abominable Snow Rabbit,” and “Duck! Rabbit! Duck!” Following is the lineup for Duck vs. Rabbit. Titles in italics feature both Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Check the net’s Web site www.CartoonNetwork.com for schedule details.
