Add another creative notch on Warner honcho Christopher Keenan’s belt. The Warner Bros. Animation exec has been promoted to senior vice president, creative affairs, it was announced late yesterday. “(Keenan) is an outstanding creative executive and has played an integral role in the development of many series throughout his 14-year tenure with Warner Bros. Animation,” said Sander Schwartz, president, Warner Bros. Animation, when announcing the promotion. “His creative savvy, production sensibilities and enthusiasm have been instrumental in helping guide the direction of such popular series as ¡Mucha Lucha!, What’s New Scooby Doo?, Baby Looney Tunes and Static Shock."
Keenan, who previously served as vice president, creative affairs, will be responsible for developing new animated television series, made-for-video projects, animated specials and cartoon shorts, as well as supervising production of current television series. Keenan will continue to report directly to Schwartz.
Keenan began his career at Warner Bros. Animation in 1989 working in production. Keenan left Warner Bros. Animation briefly in 1993 for a stint as Director of ABC’s Children’s Entertainment, and later moved to Amblin Entertainment where he served as Animation Story Editor. He rejoined Warner Bros. Animation in 1995 as Director, Programming, and was named Vice President, Creative Affairs, in 1999. During his time at the company, Keenan has been involved with the development and production of more than thirty animated series, fifteen feature-length video productions and a number of online series.
