NXN Software will be at SIGGRAPH 2003 to introduce NXN alienbrain VFX 2.0, the next version of its asset and production management system for the development of long-form, computer-animated feature films and visual effects. The system is designed to save studios time and money by securing and streamlining the workflow of highly complex productions.
NXN alienbrain has been adopted by leading digital production studios such as Pixar Animation Studios, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Electronic Arts and Lucas Arts. Based on the same technology, NXN alienbrain VFX is a terabyte-scalable system designed to integrate all key areas of the production infrastructure–reference management, asset management and production tracking–into a secure, central production framework that can be accessed via multiple APIs by every member of a production team. It stores, manages and protects all files generated during a film production, including models, textures, storyboards, design drawings, animatics, production notes, both scanned and rendered film frames, audio takes, sound effects and music.
For this version, NXN has added a configurable virtual file structure that represents complex productions at a logical level and ties the elements of that structure to the underlying assets, simplifying the task of managing dependencies among millions of production assets.
NXN alienbrain VFX 2.0 will be available this fall, but a select number of customers will be able to pick it up at the NXN booth (No. 3236) at SIGGRAPH, taking place in San Diego, Calif. from July 29-31. For more information, go to the NXN web site at www.nxn-software.com.
