Disney Channel Japan to Launch Through J-COM

Beginning November 18, Jupiter Telecommunications Co. Ltd. (J-COM Broadband) will distribute Disney Channel Japan to subscribers nationwide. Disney Channel Japan will be the second-largest international Disney Channel at launch. The Mouse House will tailor its programming specifically for Japanese viewers with shows produced at the new J-COM studio.

Tokyo-based J-COM Broadband is Japan’s largest multiple-system operator (MSO) based on the number of customers served (1,677,800 subscribing households in the Hokkaido, Kanto, Kansai, and Kyushu regions). The company provides cable television, high-speed Internet access and telephony services to customers across Japan.

Walt Disney Television Int’l (WDTV-I) is responsible for all the Walt Disney Company’s free and pay television activities outside the U.S. These activities include branded and non-branded program distribution through Buena Vista Int’l Television, including the development and management of Disney Channels and other media investments. Its branded programming reaches 500 million viewers around the world each week.
