According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony Johnston’s picture book The Iguana Brothers: A Tale of Two Lizards may be coming to a theater near you. Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios have reportedly optioned rights to develop the property as a CG feature. Director Robert Luketic (Win a Date With Tad Hamilton) is attached to produce, along with Storyopolis president Fonda Snyder.
Actor John Leguizamo, who voiced the character Sid in the Fox/Blue Sky hit Ice Age, will lend his voice to the new film. He and Rebel Films partner Kathleen DeMarco will also co-produce from a script by Jeremy Pikser (Bullworth, The Lemon Sisters).
Heading up the project is Fox Animation president Chris Meledandri. John Cohen and Lisa Fragner are overseeing for Fox and Blue Sky Studios. The two studios are currently collaborating on the CG feature Robots with Ice Age helmer Chris Wedge calling the shots. Robots is slated for release next year.
