CBS Doubles Up on Robbie the Reindeer

On Saturday, Dec. 20, CBS will air two hilarious Robbie the Reindeer holiday specials, Hooves of Fire (8:00 p.m.) and Legend of the Lost Tribe (8:30 p.m.). The stop-motion adventures were animated by BBC’s Animation Unit in Bristol, U.K. and produced by BBC Worldwide in association with the charity Comic Relief U.K., which is receiving 100% of BBC Worldwide’s net profits form the two specials.

In Robbie the Reindeer in Hooves of Fire, Robbie travels to Coldchester, the ski resort where the Reindeer Races are held, to try out for a position on Santa’s team. Team captain Blitzen, however, feels his position is threatened by the new arrival and hatches a diabolical scheme to do Robbie in. Meanwhile, Robbie gets some training help from veteran coach Old Jingle while Donner puts the moves on him, though he only has eyes for the vampish Vixen. The show has received 19 international awards, including a BAFTA for Best Entertainment Program.

Blitzen comes back to torment our Hero in Robbie the Reindeer in Legend of the Lost Tribe. Robbie enlists the help of an elusive tribe of Vikings to keep Blitzen from turning him and his reindeer friends into attractions at a reindeer theme park.

Both shows have been re-dubbed for U.S. audiences and feature the voice talents of Ben Stiller, Hugh Grant, Leah Remini and Jerry Stiller, among others.
