The Autobots and the Decepticons face off in an all-new series of adventures as Tranformers: Energon joins Cartoon Networks Saturday evening action/adventure lineup starting January 31 at 7:30 p.m. (ET, PT). The 52×30 show from Entertainment Rights will be added to a slate of such favorites as Justice League, Samurai Jack and Cyborg 009.
The title Transformers: Energon refers to the one energy source that can revive the evil Unicron and bring him back to power. To stop him, Optimus Prime utilizes the "Spark of Combination" to mobilize his small Autobot force and transform them into larger, more powerful robots.
The show, which was launched at last year’s MIPCOM, will give the Transformers characters a makeover. For example, fans can look forward to seeing Optimus Prime become Super Optimus Prime.
Other premieres coming to Cartoon Network this year include the pioneer days-set animated feature Party Wagon from Hey, Arnold! creator Craig Bartlet on Friday, Feb. 27, the final 10 installments of the animated shorts series Star Wars: Clone Wars airing Friday, March 26 through Thursday, April 8, and Megas XLR, a new boy-and-his-80-foot-tall-robot debuting on Saturday, May 1.
