Rooftop Films Replays Animation in Manhatan

This Sunday, Jan. 11, Rooftop Films will revisit some of the most popular films of its 2003 Summer Series at the Makor Artists Center in Manhattan. The special screenings are part of the annual Uptown/Downtown Makor Marathon festival of performances, poetry, spoken word, music, comics, film, video and art.

Rooftop Films will present two hour-long programs (“Love, Loss and Disaster” and “Freaks, Robots and Machines”) at 1:30 p.m., 2:30p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Films include Alec Joler’s LEGO action flick Fast Forward, the poignant children-of-war dramas Shadowplay by Dan Blank and A Conversation with Haris by Sheila Sofian, three deconstructed Disney comedies by Eileen Maxson, and the music videos Harboring Wells by Norma V Toraya and Pin by Tunde Adebimpe for New York’s own Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Rooftop Films is now accepting submissions for the Summer Series 2004. The 8th Annual Summer Series will present "daring, original movies of all types and genres" to thousands of people. The group is committed to providing a venue, an audience and a community for the wide array of short films and feature length documentaries that are under-served by conventional commercial distributors, industry-run festivals, art world galleries and retrospectives.
