Atomic Betty Licensing Goes to Joy Tashjian

Breakthrough Animation Inc. has awarded Joy Tashjian Marketing Group L.L.C. worldwide licensing representation for its animated series Atomic Betty, which recently sold to Cartoon Network for broadcast in the U.S.

Atomic Betty represents the first major original production for Breakthrough Animation, the newly established animation production, marketing and distribution division of Canada’s Breakthrough Films & Television. The branch was formed in spring 2003 by respected television industry executives Kevin Gillis, Ira Levy and Peter Williamson.

Joy Tashjian Marketing Group was established in 2000 by veteran licensing and broadcast sales exec Joy Tashjian. The company’s services range from television property development to global broadcast sales and consumer product licensing. Clients include Fathom Studios for the upcoming independent CG theatrical production Delgo, Levymann Ent. for the company’s animated property Itty Bitty HeartBeats and NBC-TV for its hit series Fear Factor, Will & Grace, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Las Vegas and Access Hollywood.

In addition to Cartoon Network U.S., Breakthrough Animation has licensed Atomic Betty for broadcast to more than 40 territories worldwide including the U.K., Australia, Italy, Southeast Asia, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. International broadcasters for the animated series include Cartoon Network U.K., TELETOON in Canada, M6 in France, Teletoon in France and ABC in Australia.

Created by Atomic Cartoons and developed by Breakthrough Animation and Fresh Produce, Atomic Betty follows the adventures of a sweet and brainy little girl who at times sheds her humdrum persona and becomes a "Galactic Guardian and Defender of the Cosmos." Zipping across the galaxy, Betty takes on daring missions like saving a race of space monkeys from a giant caterpillar invasion or rescuing a kidnapped ambassador from a ruthless king. The series is produced by Breakthrough Animation and Atomic Cartoons with Tele-Images Kids in association with TELETOON Canada and the participation of the Shaw Fund and the Canadian Television Fund.
