Warner Bros. Animation’s superhero toon, Static Shock, is making heroes of hoops stars Karl Malone, Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady and Steve Nash in an upcoming episode set to air Saturday, February 28 at 8:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT on Kids’ WB!
In the episode, “Hoop Squad,” a visit to Los Angeles for the All-Star Game brings African American teenage superhero Static face-to-face with four of his basketball idols. If that weren’t enough, Static learns that they also have superhero identities and superpowers.
Malone, Ming, McGrady and Nash make up The Hoop Squad, the leading members of the secret organization known as the National Biotech Authority, dedicated to preserving world peace and stability. They join forces with Static to help defeat the evil Doctor Odium, who’s created a frightening new device to dominate the world.
Static Shock is produced by Warner Bros. Animation under the guidance of executive producer Sander Schwartz. The concept for the “Hoop Squad” episode was created by Claire Kupchak, Kimberly Woods and David Garber, with production assistance provided by NBA Ent.
