Youd be crazy to go mano a mano with the likes of The Incredible Hulk, The Amazing Spiderman and Daredevil, but thats exactly what one video game publisher intends to do. A new deal between Electronic Arts and Marvel Enterprises Inc. will see EA develop new superheroes to go up against Marvels caped crusaders in a new generation of fighting video games.
The multi-year agreement grants EA rights to use Marvel characters in the games, but also gives Marvel the exclusive rights as worldwide licensing agent for all consumer products and media licensing for the new EA heroes, which will be featured in Marvel comic books. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The Marvel and EA superhero-based fighting titles are currently under development for multiple game platforms at EA’s studio, EAC, in British Columbia. The license grants EA the rights to develop game titles for all current and next generation video game consoles, handheld platforms and PCs.
