LA SIGGRAPH Explores Future of Visual Effects

Visual effects have come a long way since Edison and others started experimenting with in-camera tricks during film’s infancy. But what’s next? That’s a question L.A. ACM SIGGRAPH hopes to answer next week when it holds its next chapter meeting, dubbed "Producing the Future: A Producer’s Perspective on What’s Coming Next in Visual Effects?"

Leading VFX producers from the worlds of television, feature films and commercials will discuss the current state of the art and the advances in tools, technologies, organizational structures and market trends that may be on the way. The speakers will also focus on the impact these changes will likely have on the career paths and options for current and aspiring visual effects practitioners.

The program takes place on Wednesday Feb. 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in the Barnsdall Art Park, 4800 Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles, Calif. 90027. A social hour will follow at 7:30. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of MAXON.

Admission is free to members and $15 for non-members. New members who sign up on site and pay the $35 annual membership fee (checks or cash only) do not have to pay the admission fee.
