Premium cable outlet STARZ! will air the exclusive TV premiere of the Academy Award-nominated animated feature Finding Nemo from Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. The CG blockbuster will make its boob tube bow on May 22 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).
To promote the event, the cabler is launching the STARZ! Disney/Pixar Finding Nemo Sweepstakes, where entrants have a chance to win a number of prizes including a trip for two to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, where most of the film’s action takes place.
The sweepstakes runs March 1 through June 1, 2004. Fans can register at www.starz.com or tune in to the Nemo premiere and answer a trivia question on the website.
Nemo earned $339 million at the North American box office to become the highest-grossing film of 2003. It went on to make $500 million overseas and has won a host of awards. The film picked up nine Annie Awards including Best Feature and has garnered Oscar nominations for music, writing, sound editing and Best Animated Feature. Nemo writer and director Andrew Stanton will receive the Animation Director of the Year Award at this year’s ShoWest, the official confab of the National Assoc. of Theatre Owners in Las Vegas.
