Disney’s direct-to-video sequel The Lion King 1 1/2 may be heading to retailers on Feb. 10, but youll also be able to catch the films stars sharing a meal at McDonald’s. Starting Friday, Feb. 6, participating restaurants will offer finger puppets of Timon, Pumbaa, Simba, Rafiki, Mufasa and Ed with the purchase of Happy Meals.
Featuring interactive technology, each toy opens its mouth, jaws or snout when tapped to playback a signature phrase or sound, such as Timon singing “Hakuna Matata” and Simba’s “cub-roarrrrrr.”
The McDonald’s The Lion King 1 1/2 Happy Meal promotion will run from Feb. 6 through March 4, while supplies last. The event will be supported by national television spots developed by Leo Burnett Co. and Hispanic television advertising by dRM DDB.
