With competition from Majesco’s and Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance Video products on the way, Hasbro is introducing a color version of its hot-selling kid-friendly, portable personal video player. Developed under Hasbro Inc.’s Tiger Electronics brand, the VIDEONOW COLOR player also adds a larger, back-lit screen and improved video playback quality. Hasbro sold more than 1.2 million of the original black & white units and more than 4 million personal video discs. Content for the players retail for around $8.99. Three-packs will sell for $16.99. The new color players will carry a suggested retail price of $75.
Available content includes episodes of such popular Nickelodeon properties as SpongeBob SquarePants, The Fairly OddParents, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Danny Phantom, All Grown Up, Rocket Power and Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, as well as installments of ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos, NBC’s Fear Factor, Fox’s American Idol and TLC’s Trading Spaces, among others.
