As Comic-Con kicks into high gear today, another graphic novel master is getting ready to go behind the cameras for a movie project. Variety reports that Neil Gaiman, the creator of the popular Sandman series and American Gods, will be directing a movie based on his own book, Death: The High Cost of Living for New Line. The project will be renamed Death’s Day for the big screen.
Gaiman’s script centers on a suicidal teen named Sexton, who is shown the value of his life on Earth by none other than the Angel of Death, who appears to him in the form of a teenage girl. Don Murphy (From Hell) will act as the feature’s producer. Another one of Gaiman’s popular books, Coraline, which is about a girl who discovers an alternate version of her life, is also being adapted into a feature, to be directed by Henry Selick (James and the Giant Peach).
