Fathom Studios and its licensing agency, Joy Tashjian Marketing Group (JTMG), have awarded Playmates Toys the master toy license for the upcoming CG-animated feature film, Delgo. The toy line includes dolls, action figures, play sets, vehicles and toy accessories.
Delgo is a fantasy adventure film that takes place in a magical land where two civilizations are brought together by an outlawed romance and the heroics of some unlikely friends. The star-studded voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr. (Scooby-Doo), Jennifer Love Hewitt (Garfield: The Movie) Anne Bancroft (The Graduate), Val Kilmer (Batman Forever), Chris Kattan (Monkeybone), Kelly Ripa (TV’s Hope & Faith), Eric Idle (Monty Python’s Flying Circus), Michael Clarke Duncan (Planet of the Apes), Malcolm McDowell (Star Trek Generations), Burt Reynolds (Boogie Nights) and Lou Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman).
Delgo’s toy licensing agreement follows a publishing deal with Penguin Group Inc. for illustrated picture books, novelizations, story books, hardcover novels, MadLibs and movie scrapbooks.
Playmates has had success with such properties as The Simpsons and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and was recently awarded the master toy license for Peter Jackson’s upcoming remake of King Kong.
Delgo is still in production at Atlanta-based Fathom Studios. To see some work-in-progress glimpses, check out the “Digital Dailies” message board at www.delgo.com.
