Dora Explores U.K.’s ITV Networks

Nickelodeon’s hit animated preschool series, Dora the Explorer, will make its U.K. terrestrial television debut through a pact between MTV Networks Int’l (MTVNI) and CiTV in the U.K. The 13-episode deal greatly expands Dora’s reach across the pond, where it has only been available via cable and satellite and is already a top-rated series on Nick Jr U.K.

Along with viewership, Dora merchandising is expected to soar as MTVNI extends the property’s consumer products business in conjunction with the CiTV launch. Revenues from Dora products are expected to reach $1 billion in the U.S. by year’s end.

Dora the Explorer is a bilingual preschool show designed to engage preschoolers to solve puzzles using many ways of learning. There are currently 78 episodes available with 18 more in production for delivery in 2005. Other key broadcast partners across Europe include TF1 France, Nick Holland, Nick Nordic, Nick Spain and SIC Portugal.
