Animators will have an easier time creating toons and selecting artwork from existing libraries thanks to a new Beta release of Toon Boom Studio v3 for Mac and PC set for early July. According to the Montreal-based company, the new Studio V3 features a handy toolset that facilitates and further simplifies the creation of animated projects. This will certainly qualify as great news for animation pros praying for simpler and faster solutions.
Among the new Beta release’s cool features are a New Free Transform tool which allows users to apply any combination of scaling, rotation and skewing; ability to add text for effective communication in web presentations and comic strips; automated lip sync tools that offer faster sound track synchronization; improved sound scrubbing; a library that enables users to save drawing, animation cycles and motions for reuse; a nifty timeline that makes it easier to organize layers, set the timing and attach motion paths to elements; cell-swapping and templates for speedier animation creation, and the ability to create dollys, trucks, zooms and other 3D space and camera moves.
Overall, the product promises significant improves to animation keyframing asset reuse and lip synch, a simplified user interface with Drawing and Sceneplanning modes packaged in one single mode. Note that only current customers with registered license key (s) are invited to participate in the Beta phase. Instructions will be sent to them directly. This customer release is set for early July. All customers who purchase Toon Boom Studio between today and the customer release will receive the upgrade at no charge. Upon customer release, the v3 upgrade will sell at $ 199.99 USD for V1/V2 customers and at $ 99.99 USD for V2.5 customers.
