Ren & Stimpy Brings Joy to Nicktoons

That irascible little Chihuahua and his dopey feline pal are coming back to Nickelodeon via its 24-hour animation network, Nicktoons. All three original seasons of The Ren & Stimpy Show will premiere on Saturday, July 30 at 9:30 p.m., marking the series’ return to kids’ TV for the first time since 2002.

Created by toon maverick John Kricfalusi and produced by his Spumco Inc., The Ren & Stimpy show launched on Nickelodeon in 1991 and earned an Emmy nomination in 1993. Kricfalusi left the show after the first season due to creative differences and later resurrected the characters for Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon, which ran for a season in 2003 on Spike TV. He now has aspirations of taking the property to the big screen.

“We’re thrilled to add the cult classic Ren & Stimpy to our air,” comments Nicktoons VP and general manager Keith Dawkins. “Ren & Stimpy represents the type of bold, experimental, creator driven animation that Nicktoons and our Nicktoons studio is all about.”

The Ren & Stimpy Show will air weekdays at 11:30 p.m. (ET) and weekends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with back-to-back episodes in August.
