With billions at stake in the exploding video game industry, the scope of the Pokemon launch this weekend should surprise no one.
Fans worldwide are being invited to virtually attend the launch party for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl on Sunday, April 22 at the Nintendo World Store in Gotham’s Rockefeller Plaza. Fans who are not in New York can log on to www.pokemon.com for all of the day’s excitement via a live webcast from 1:00 to 5:00 pm EST.
Diamond and Pearl are for the hand-held Nintendo DS system. The games have already sold millions in Japan, and pre-orders have topped 500,000 in the U.S. Based on these numbers, Nintendo expects the games to be among the top-sellers of 2007.
Featured at the April 22nd event will be interactive game play stations showing off the new games, a stage show, a Pokemon trading card game play area, a movie lounge featuring the new Pokemon movie, Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea and a special Kids Zone for younger fans.
