3-D Tricks and Treats from Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network will take viewers into the third dimension this Friday with Cartoon Network 3-D Halloween, a special programming event that will feature a 3-D episode of Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and an eye-popping, exclusive sneak peek at the LucasArts video game, Thrillville: Off the Rails. The fun will start at 7 p.m (ET/PT) on Oct. 12 during the network’s new Fried Dynamite programming block.

The 3-D Halloween fest will begin with a new episode Out of Jimmy’s Head titled ‘Ghost,’ in which Jimmy takes a turn in the other world when he sees a ghost in the classroom attic. His best friend, Craig, sees this as an opportunity to cash in on Jimmy’s ‘ghost spotting’ abilities and creates a pricey and spooky seminar. The 3-D installment of Foster’s Home will follow at 7:30 p.m. with ‘Nightmare on Wilson Way,’ in which Bloo’s ultimate Halloween trick goes horribly awry when his friends are turned into 3-D zombies.

Viewers will want to leave their 3-D glasses on for their first look at Lucas Arts’ Thrillville: Off the Rails, a video game that has players create and experience the theme park of their dreams. To promote the exclusive content, Cartoon Network will create a custom teaser spot and will feature the video game’s branding on 3-D glasses distributed as part of the campaign. CartoonNetwork.com has also created a custom micro site featuring a game demo, tips, tricks and additional information for visitors, while FriedDynamite.com hosts a review of the game.

Cartoon Network teamed with TIME for Kids to teach children the science of stereoscopic vision, and distributed 3-D glasses for use during the programming event. The network is also sponsored 3-D house parties so select fans could host special advance screenings of Foster’s Home in 3-D at their homes. Viewers can go to CartoonNetwork.com for information on how to receive free 3-D glasses for Friday’s broadcast.

The first Thrillville game was one of the best-selling original children’s franchises of 2006. The sequel, Thrillville: Off the Rails, hits retail on October 16 and promises to deliver the most outlandish roller-coaster concepts ever imagined, as well as new ways to talk to park guests and a wider array of carnival games. The game will be available for Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, PSP and Nintendo DS.
