In addition to the recently announced animated series based on the popular Whac-A-Mole arcade game, Foothill Ent. is bringing the newly acquired Collingwood O’Hare 2D property Eddy and the Bear and a new CG show titled Boy and the Dinosaur to MIPCOM and MIPCOM Jr. ’07. The company is in Cannes to close pre-sales and production partnerships for Iconicles, a phuuz ent.-created kids’ variety show that received a BBC commission during this year’s MIPTV.
Directed by Tony Collingwood, Eddy and the Bear is an animated series that follows the daily adventures of five-year-old Eddie, who explores his world with his best friend, who happens to be a ten-foot-tall talking bear. Based on the best-selling books by Jez Alborough, the series won a BAFTA for Best Pre-school Animation and is being offered in North America.
In development at Foothill is Boy and the Dinosaur, a CG show about a boy whose wish to bring his toy dinosaur to life comes true. The series explores the relationship between the Boy with his 200-million-year old Dinosaur mentor, who is wise, kind, resourceful, funny and knowledgeable. Since no one else can see him, it’s never quite clear if Dinosaur is a figment of the boy’s imagination or a real prehistoric pal.
In addition to the new acquisitions and such catalog titles as Planet Bizzaro: The World According to Zoomer, Kid Guides, Kiddo the Super Truck and The Bubbletown Club, Foothill is showcasing a new live-action, classical music-based series titled Puppy Plays, and the new family film Welcome to Paradise starring Crystal Bernard and Brian Dennehy, which was acquired by the company’s new feature film division.
