London-based Cake Distribution announced today that it has licensed its animated series Skunk Fu! to Cartoon Network Europe for its EMEA Channels. The deal brings the comedy-action show to parts of Europe not covered under previous deals with BBC, Super RTL, Canal J, France 5, RTBF, SVT, NRK, S4C, TG4, RAISAT. As the property continues to extend its reach around the world, Cake is hopeful for its chances of moving beyond the tube and becoming a major multi-platform property.
Created by Aidan Harte, Skunk Fu! is a series of 52 12-minute episodes that follow the adventures of a young western skunk who goes to China and learns Kung Fu from a wise old Panda so that he can help the resistance fight the evil Dragon and his army of Ninja Monkeys. The show is a Cartoon Saloon, Telegael and CAKE Ent. co-production for TG4 in Ireland and SUPER RTL in Germany.
Cake Distribution handles world-wide distribution rights for Skunk Fu!, while licensing and merchandising rights are managed by Galleon Plc. Other animated shows in Cake’s catalog include King Artur’s Disasters, Edgar & Ellen, Loopdidoo, Total Drama Island and Tiny Planets. The company also handles the Scholastic catalogue for Europe only.
