Copyright Promotions Licensing Group (CPLG) has been appointed rights agency in France for Hairy Scary, children’s animated comedy series from Alphanim. Consisting of 52 13-minute episodes, the show currently airs on France 3 and The Disney Channel Italy, and is scheduled to premiere on Super RTL in Germany later this year.
Aimed at kids 6-8, Hairy Scary follows the CG-animated adventures of hairy boy Willow and scary girl Constance as they discover the importance of friendship and acceptance of differences on their fantastical planet. Scheming classmate Junior has a crush on Constance and makes life difficult for Willow in a bid to get him out of the picture.
Alphanim handles’worldwide distribution and marketing for the show, which was co-winner of License! Global’s 2007 Licensing Challenge. The series is co-produced by Alphanim, France 3, Super RTL and Europool. Kids will be able to relate to the everyday conflicts of each episode and the strong values of Hairy Scary. The property will be marketed across a number of categories, including interactive and role-play games, plush toys, figurines, apparel and accessories.
