Users Flood the Web with Ben 10 Games

Cartoon Network has announced that its Ben 10: Alien Force Game Creator has seen more than 380,000 fan-created games launch last week at CartoonNetwork.com. Based on the new animated series, Cartoon Network New Media’s first online game to incorporate user-generated content went live on May 5 and has garnered more than 20 million game plays during its first week, breaking the site’s previous record of 5 million set in March by Ben 10 Alien Force: Forever Defense.

The new Ben 10 game also brought a record-breaking number of unique visitors to CartoonNetwork.com. According to the network, more than 1 million people logged on each day for the week of May 5-11. The site hit a record high for the week beginning May 4, with more than 5 million unique visitors stopping by to check out the latest offering. Ben 10 titles now dominate the list of the ten most popular games at CartoonNetwork.com. Ben 10: Alien Force Forever Defense is at No. 2, followed by Ben 10: Alien Force Action Packs at No. 3, Ben 10: Battle Ready at No. 4 and Ben 10: Cannonbolt Pinball at No. 5.

‘Ben 10 fans, as well as online gaming fans, have embraced this new build-your-own game in droves, validating Cartoon Network’s conviction that kids recognize the value of immersive and sophisticated games,’ comments Molly Chase, VP and exec producer of Cartoon Network New Media. ‘Our online fans are building and sharing this game and enjoying an unprecedented level of interaction with both a favorite show and their fellow fans. We see this type of game as a wave of the future for the online gaming market and have already begun work on expanding the experience to feature another popular network franchise.’

Ben 10: Alien Force premiered in primetime on April 18 and was the most-watched original series premiere in Cartoon Network history. The latest chapter in the saga takes place five years later as a 15-year-old Ben Tennyson chooses to once again don the omnitrix and discovers that he has ten new aliens to transform into. The series was created by Man of Action (Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steve Seagle), and is exec-produced by Sam Register (Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi) with supervising producer Glen Murakami (Teen Titans) and story editor Dwayne McDuffie (Justice League).
