CG-Animated Abby Cadabby Gets Her Own Show

Popular Sesame Street character Abby Cadabby is getting her own show and a brand-new CG facelift. The new series is titled Abby’s Flying Fairy School and features characters designed by none other than talented artist Peter De S’ve (Ice Age movies, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille).

In her new show, Abby Cadabby, along with an eclectic gang of new friends’fairies, trolls and a part-gerbil part-unicorn called Niblet’attend Fairy School with Ms. Sparklenose. Abby and her friends use rhyme, reason and cooperation, plus a helping hand (or wand) from viewers at home to solve problems. The nine-minute-long show is designed to helps foster preschoolers’ critical thinking skills to solve problems.

Abby’s Flying Fairy School is one of four new shows Sesame Workshop will offer at the MIPCOM Market in October. The slate includes 26 x 5 live-action/puppet mix Munchin’ Impossible (A gingerbread cookie sends Cookie Monster on location to find healthy snacks), the 26 x 5 Elmo’s Backyard (Elmo finds worms, spider webs, veggies and other wonderful things in his own backyard education) and 3-2-1 Let’s Go, a half-hour preschool block hosted by Abby Cadabby and featuring segments from Play With Me Sesame, Global Grover and the claymation series, Bert & Ernie’s Great Adventures.

‘Like its successful predecessors Elmo’s World, Global Grover and Play With Me Sesame, this new and robust slate of programming continues the 40-year tradition of taking the best of Sesame‘the humor, the colorful characters, and the zaniness’and creating different formats that meet the needs of the next generation of viewers,’ says Miranda Barry, Sesame Workshop’s exec VP of creative.
