Italian animation producer Rainbow has sold the fourth season of its hit show Winx Club to almost every one of the 100 countries that aired the previous three series. Cartoon Network (Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Latin America, Spain), Nickelodeon (Holland, Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavia), RAI Italy, France 3, Telecinco Spain, and RTL Germany are some of the stations carrying the toon internationally.
The fourth series of 26 episodes (for a total of 104 episodes) is scheduled to launch throughout Europe in fall 2009 and has already achieved a healthy 10% share of the children’s morning slot on RAI (Italy), where it has been airing since April 2009. The European wide broadcast will be coordinated with the launch of the latest Winx Fashion Dolls, which have already sold over 1 million units in Italy alone.
In the fourth season of the show, which is created and directed by Iginio Straffi, the fashion-savvy fairies travel from Magix to Earth, where they meet Roxy (the last remaining Earth Fairy) and defeat enemies who plan to destroy their clan. Other new characters in the series are the fairies’ six adorable pets. A second Winx movie is also in the works, which will be released in 2010. Winx Club airs Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. on The CW 4Kids and can also be viewed on www.4kids.tv
