The animated short film Flawed won a special citation from the jury at the Palm Springs Short Film Festival.
The festival announced the winners of its awards for the 2010 edition, which concluded Monday in Palm Springs, Calif.
The special citation was presented to the Canadian film, directed by Andrea Dorfman, ‘for the originality of its artistic expression, its genre-defying aesthetic and its emotional resonance.’ The film uses drawings by Dorfman to tell the story of her long-distance relationship with a plastic surgeon.
Other awards in the festival’s animation categories were:

‘ Best Student Animated Short: First Place ‘ Prayers for Peace (U.S.A.), Dustin Grella; Second Place ‘ Urs (Germany), Moritz Mayerhofer
The festival screened more than 300 short films and reports an increase in attendance from ticket buyers, filmmakers and industry delegates.
