Wallace & Gromit to Guest on The Simpsons

One of the big scoops of The Simpsons panel at Comic-Con this past weekend was that Aardman favorites Wallace & Gromit will be paying Springfield a visit during the long-running toon’s upcoming season on FOX. Showrunner Al Jean also told fans that the cast of Glee will also be featured in the show’s record-setting 22nd season.

The panel, which also included creator Matt Groening, exec producer Matt Selman and supervising director Mike Anderson, also noted that upcoming voice guests will include Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg, Cheech and Chong, and Hugh Laurie (Dr. House), and that the Christmas episode will be puppet-animated.

When asked about the difficulties of keeping the show fresh after so many seasons on the air, Groening said, ‘I don’t think there is a problem with ideas. We have so many characters’what is there, like 50? One of the great things about animation is it creates a dream world. That’s fun for me as an animator.’

Previously, Jean told ew.com that Halle Berry and Paul Rudd are also part of the guest voice lineup this next season. Rudd stars as a therapist who’s horrified to learn that Homer has a habit of throttling Bart. ‘For 20 years we’ve shown Homer strangling Bart and we’ve never had anybody go, ‘Oh, that’s horrible!” says Jean. ‘So Paul Rudd goes, ‘That’s terrible!’ and he tries to cure him.’ The new season of The Simpsons premieres Sept. 26 on FOX.
