ASIFA to Present Student Annies at Weekend Festival

The first-ever Student Annie Awards will be presented this weekend at the Student Animation Film Festival, presented by the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Educators Forum.

The second annual event, which is free, will be held at CSU Long Beach this Saturday, Nov. 6, from noon to 5 p.m.

This event is intended to give students enrolled in academic programs a chance to be recognized for their work by the Hollywood animation community. The festival will showcase student filmmaking across multiple animation disciplines, including traditional, computer generated, stop-motion and motion-graphic animation.

The winners of the five awards will be announced at the event and include:

  • The Student Annie Award for Best Animated Short
  • A Silver Award for second place
  • A Bronze Award for third place
  • Two Honorable Mention awards.

Award winning short animations as well other standout entries will be screened at the event. A panel discussion with industry experts and a demo reel and portfolio review also will be part of the program.

Sponsors include ACME Filmworks, Autodesk, Animation Magazine, CSU Long Beach, DreamWorks Animation, DigiCel Flipbook, Focal Press, Journey Ed, Stash Media and Wacom.
