Toy Story 3 Is Ready for A Home Play-Date

The biggest home video release of the week is also one of the best animated films of the year: Toy Story 3 (Disney-Pixar, $29.99 DVD, $39.99 two-disc Blu-ray, $45.99 four-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack).

The highly anticipated release includes tons of bonus features, including the short film Day & Night, and featurettes including: Toys!, Buzz Lightyear Mission Logs: The Science of Adventure, Paths to Pixar: Editorial, The Gang’s All Here, A Toy’s Eye View: Creating A Whole New Land and Studio Stories, featuring anecdotes about life at Pixar.

The Blu-ray edition of the movie also includes Toy Story Trivia Dash; commentary by director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson; an alternative commentary tack featuring the leads of the story, tech, art and animation departments; Beginnings: Setting A Story In Motion; Bonnie’s Playtime: A Story Roundtable; Roundin’ Up A Western Opening; Life Of A Shot; Goodbye Andy; Accidental Toymakers; and The Making of Day & Night.

And if you need to catch up on the story so far, this week also sees the release of the Ultimate Toy Box 3-Movie Collection, containing all three Toy Story releases on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital copy (Disney-Pixar, $100).

Also out this week from Pixar is Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales (Disney-Pixar, $26.99 DVD, $29.99 Blu-ray/DVD combo pack), featuring a collection of the short films that includes two new episodes.

Other animated releases include Care Bears: The Giving Festival Movie (Lionsgate, $14.98), Kaboom: Let’s Solve! (Phase 4 Films, $12.99) and the anime release Dirty Pair: The Original TV Series Part 1 Collection (Widowmaker Films, $49.99).

On the visual effects side of thing, the updated version of the Visitors’ arrival on Earth comes home in V: The Complete First Season (Warner Bros., $39.98 DVD, $49.99 Blu-ray) and a classic comes to high definition with the release of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (MGM, $34.99 Blu-ray/DVD combo pack).
