Reynolds to Write, Franck to Direct Sony-Gotham Group Feature

A crew — but not yet a title or story description — have been set for the first of four animated feature film collaborations between Sony Pictures Animation and The Gotham Group.

David Reynolds, who was nominated for an Oscar for his work on Pixar’s Finding Nemo, will write the movie based on a story by the film’s director, Stephan Franck. Reynolds’ credits include the animated features Chicken Little, A Bugs Life, The Emperor’s New Groove, Mulan, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Fantasia/2000, Tarzan and Toy Story 2 & 3.

Franck’s credits include supervising animator on The Iron Giant, story contributions on Despicable Me and he is co-creator with his brother Emmanuel Franck of the international hit animated series Corneil and Bernie.

Executive producers on the film are Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Peter McHugh and Eric Robinson, as well as Karen Dufilho-Rosen, an Oscar-winning filmmaker whose credits include Geri’s Game and For the Birds.

Alexa Amin, VP of development for Sony Pictures Animation, is overseeing the production for the studio.
