DQ Entertainment’s worldwide hit The Jungle Book has found its way into the toy market, signing a deal with U.K.-based Mookie Toys.
The exclusive deal gives Mookie toy licensing rights to the property in the U.K., Ireland and the Channel Islands and covers several categories including wheeled bicycles, tri-scooters, tricycles, balance bikes, sit ‘n’ rides, play balls, outdoor activity centers and slides. The three-year deal sees DQE receiving a substantial up-front payment as a minimum guarantee for the deal.
Mookie has experience making similar licensed products featuring such well-known properties as Peppa Pig, Noddy, Rupert Bear, Toy Story, Fire Man Sam, Ben 10, Mr. Men, Postman Pat, Disney’s Characters like Little Mermaid, Cars, Snow White and Winnie the Pooh.
“This agreement will open up a number of new verticals for maximising our profits from The Jungle Book as we continue to expand licensing and distribution opportunities,” says Tapaas Chakravarti, chairman & CEO of DQE Group. “The 3D series has already become a hugely popular television programme in countries where it has started airing. We remain hugely optimistic that the licensing & merchandising of this iconic property will gain further momentum during 2011.”
