Programming Exec Kanter Adds GM Duties for Disney Junior

Disney Channels Worldwide has rewarded Nancy Kanter with the additional role of general manager of Disney Junior Worldwide, a post that will supplement her job as senior VP of original programming.

The dual role will see Kanter focus on  the recently launched Disney Junior brand and upcoming 24-hour channel launch. Kanter will report as general manager to Carolina Lightcap, president of Disney Channels Worldwide; and as senior VP of original programming to Gary Marsh, president of entertainment and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide.

Kanter has held the position of senior VP of Playhouse Disney Worldwide since 2008. She joined Disney Channel in 2001 as VP of original programming and was promoted to senior VP of original programming for Playhouse Disney U.S., in 2004. Under her leadership, Playhouse Disney delivered hit series including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny and Imagination Movers.

Kanter also oversees Playhouse Disney’s short-form content development, further adding dimension to the brand and platform.
