It’s a big day for Muggles and Pixar fans alike, with the arrival of most recent Harry Potter movie and the high-def debut of The Incredibles.
Up first on April 15 is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (Warner Bros., $28.98 DVD, $35.99 Blu-ray), the penultimate chapter in the popular series. Adapting the book by J.K. Rowling, the release features deleted scenes and Blu-ray exclusive features including the opening scene of Part 2, some magical featurettes, a look at the soundtrack for the film and a promotional trailer for the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
New to high-def is The Incredibles (Disney, $45.99 two-disc Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy combo pack). The 2004 Oscar winner for best animated feature arrives on Blu-ray with the original DVD bonus features and the following all-new bonus features:
- The Incredibles Revisited – A roundtable discussion with Writer/Director Brad Bird, Producer John Walker, Story Supervisor Mark Andrews, Supervising Technical Director Rick Sayre, Production Designer Lou Romano, Character Designer Teddy Newton, and Supervising Animator Tony Fucile.
- Paths To Pixar: Story Artists – Continuing the popular bonus feature series that viewers have seen on many other Disney•Pixar releases, this exciting new feature showcases multiple Pixar story artists giving viewers exciting insight into their work, their inspiration and the personal paths that eventually led them to a career at Pixar.
- Studio Stories: Gary’s Birthday – Trying to make a movie when there are not enough work days and too many birthday parties? This feature showcases how The Incredibles crew solved that problem.
- Ending With A Bang: Making The End Credits – Interview with Director of Photography Andy Jimenez and Character Designer Teddy Newton about the process of creating the end credits for the film.
- “The New Nomanisan” Island Redevelopment Plan – A guided tour of Nomanisan Island, post-Syndrome, pitching the island as a vacation resort paradise.
Another Pixar classic is getting a re-release, with a new edition of Cars (Disney, $39.99 Blu-ray and DVD combo pack) in preparation for the June 24 of Cars 2.
Also out this week is The Garfield Show: Private Eye Ventures (Vivendi, $14.98), Go, Diego, Go!: Diego Saves the World! (Paramount, $16.99), Max & Ruby: Rainy Day Play! (Paramount, $16.99) and 100 Cartoon Classics (Image, $14.98).
