Comedy Central is taking advantage of the latest real-world developments to showcase two Osama bin Laden-themed episodes of South Park this Wednesday (May 4) at 9 and 9:30 p.m.. The two reruns will lead up to the second installment in the show’s 15th season at 10 p.m.
The first episode, “Osama bin Laden Has Farty Pants,” originally aired on Nov. 7, 2001, just two months after the 9/11 tragedy and earned an Emmy nomination for Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s topical toon. It is followed by “It’s a Jersey Thing,” which originally aired on Oct. 13, 2010 and features an ironic ending in which bin Laden is shot in the head by a U.S. soldier.
The new 15th season episode is titled “Funnybot” and revolves on the school’s first annual Comedy Awards, during which Jimmy announces that the Germans are the least funny people in the world, causing the European country to retaliate against the kids.
Here’s a short clip from the old bin Laden episode of South Park.
Incidentally, if you haven’t seen the insane animated depiction of bin Laden’s final moments, created by twisted Taiwanese Next Media Animation, you can check it out here. (Satan, Hitler, Saddam Hussein and the evil pigs of hell all make cameos in this memorable clip!)
