Teletoon Orders ‘Fugget About It,’ ‘Rocket Monkeys’

The animated series Fugget About It and Rocket Monkeys were among the four new Canadian original programs announced as recently green-lit or in production by Teletoon Canada.

The network also announced at the Banff World Media Festival it had ordered additional episodes of three more series.

The network ordered 13 22-minute episodes of Fugget About It from 9 Story Entertainment. The show is about a New York mobster who enters witness protection in Regina, Saskatchewan. The animated comedy is aimed at teens and young adults, and was originally developed for the Teletoon At Night Pilot Project in 2007. It will air starting in fall 2012 on Teletoon at Night.

Also new is an order for 26 22-minute segments of Rocket Monkeys, from Breakthrough Entertainment and set to begin airing in fall 2012 on Teletoon. The show follows two trained monkey-nauts who are blasted into outer space to strange new worlds on a unique and specially equipped rocket. The comedy series is aimed at kids ages 6-11.

The network picked up two new live-action gameshow-style series, Just Kidding Kids and Splatalot.

On the renewal side, the network ordered eight more episodes of Breakthrough’s Crash Canyon, set to air in fall 2012 on Teletoon at Night; 13 more episodes of Nelvana’s Detentionaire for fall 2012 on Teletoon; and 13 more episodes of Cookie Jar Entertainment’s hybrid series Mudpit, also for fall 2012 on Teletoon.

“Teletoon has always been proud to showcase the great animation and kids television talent that our country has to offer and we’re thrilled to announce our new lineup of Canadian programming,” said Alan Gregg, director, original content, Teletoon Canada. “With four new shows and three more renewed Canadian-made series, Teletoon continues to expand its repertoire of animated and live-action/animated series for kids 6-11, co-view audiences and adults.”
