Lizards, toys and classic toons come home on video this week, highlighted by the release of the hit feature film Rango.
Directed by Gore Verbinski and starring the voice of Johnny Depp, Rango (Paramount, $30.99 DVD, $40.99 Blu-ray and DVD) arrives with plenty of bonus features, including an alternate ending, deleted scenes, featurettes on the making of the film and commentary tracks. This disc drops on Friday.
The Adult Swim hit series returns with its most-recent collection of Star Wars parodies, with the arrival of Robot Chicken — Star Wars: Episode III (Warner Bros., $14.98 DVD, $19.98 Blu-ray). In addition to the usual parodies, the show includes featurettes on the making of the special, voice recording, the writer’s room and more.
A classic from the 1980s arrives with the release ThunderCats: The Original Series – Season 1, Part 1 (Warner Bros., $19.97), a two-disc set featuring the first dozen episodes from the classic show.
There’s plenty of new releases and reissues coming for younger viewers, including Best of Caillou: Caillou Goes Back to School (PBS, $12.99), Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Big Party Pack (Paramount, $24.99), Gordon the Garden Gnome (Millennium Media Services, $15.98 DVD, $19.98 special edition DVD), Thomas: Thomas in Charge (HIT Entertainment, $14.98), Veggie Tales Royalty Collection (Big Idea, $14.97) and Yo Gabba Gabba: Party In A Box! And rounding out this week’s releases is the anime entry Naruto Shippuden: Box Set 7 (VIZ Media, $49.95).
