Disney’s ultimate fandom expo, taking place August 19 – 21 at the Anaheim Convention Center, has announced its planned sneak peeks and appearances by stars from upcoming films, while promising even more surprises for attendees.
Film previews will cover The Muppets, John Carter, Oz the Great and Powerful, Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, Pixar’s Brave and Marvel’s The Avengers on August 20, along with cast roll call. Stars of these upcoming flicks set to pop in include Jason Segel, Kermit and Miss Piggy (Muppets); Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Defoe (John Carter); Kelly Macdonald and Kevin McKidd (Brave); Jennifer Garner (The Odd Life of Timothy Green); Jack McBrayer and Sarah Silverman (Wreck-It Ralph); and as-yet unrevealed cast members of Avengers. Disney studios chairman Rich Ross, production president Sean Bailey, Disney Animation and Pixar chief John Lasseter and Marvel’s Kevin Feige will also be on-hand that day.
In addition to these anticipated first looks, the event will allot plenty of time to Pixar, now in its 25th year, with a top-tier creative panel (including Lasseter, Jim Morris, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, Bob Peterson, Lee Unkrich, Mark Andrews and Dan Scanlon), look at the characters of Monsters University, focus on composer Michael Giacchino, peak at the art of Brave and a Pixar shorts directors’ panel. Disney will also present advance screenings of the stereo 3-D version of The Lion King and upcoming ABC holiday special Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice. For fans on the floor, activities include a collection of props from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, drawing classes, meet-and-greets, book signings and more.
