Filmmaker Junction and entertainment communications agency Hype have joined forces to present an evening of visual effects info for indie filmmakers. The Westside VFX Panel made up of industry veterans will explore how indie films are successfully integrating visual effects into their lower budget productions, covering topics like how to create high quality effects at a limited cost, which software packages to use and effect green-screen shooting.
Individual roundtables with each expert for attendees to pose their own questions will follow the hour-long panel, moderated by Andrew Zinnes. Panelists include vfx supervisors Mark Youngren of Splice (Star Trek, The Last Airbender, Transformers), Dan Schmit of Engine Room (Soul Surfer, A Single Man, The Runaways) and Matt Merkovich (Date Night, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Minority Report).
The event will take place Wednesday, September 28 from 7-9 p.m. at The Working Village (212 Marine Street, Los Angeles). Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 for walk-ins. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.filmmakerjunction.com/events/visual-effects-panel.
