Toei Serves Up ‘Toriko’ for MIPCOM

Tokyo-based toon house Toei Animation is asking MIPCOM 2011 (Oct. 3-6) attendees to save room for dessert and they prepare for the global distribution launch of Toriko, the company’s latest hit series. The announcement was made by Kanji Kazahaya, director – global licensing and business department for Toei Animation.

Based on the highly acclaimed manga by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro (Seikimatsu Leader den Takeshi!), Toriko follows the trail of the legendary Gourmet Hunter as he tracks down the world’s rarest creatures—and turns them into delicacies. The world is full of deliciously deadly ingredients that the wealthiest appetites in existence can’t wait to devour, and Toriko is on the hunt!

Toriko has gained an impressive loyal following in Japan since its April debut, and we believe it will follow Toei Animation’s Dragon Ball Z and One Piece as a global hit series,” said Kazahaya.
